Medical doctors and legal practitioners of Sudanese heritage in Northern Ireland have voiced their concerns about the war and unrest in Sudan.
Sudanese people in Northern Ireland have appealed to the Northern Ireland government, the Irish government and the government of the United Kingdom for support and a call for ceasefire to the conflict in Sudan to pave a way for sustainable peace.
Northern Irish Sudanese community appeal:
to the Northern Ireland government, the Irish government and the government of the United Kingdom for humanitarian aid and a safe corridor and access to Sudanese people in Sudan and its borders.
for medical supplies (life saving medicines) and personnel to assist in the relief efforts in Sudan
to make plans for and support the reunification of families
to make preparations for the integration and inclusion of displaced Sudanese people and to ensure that Asylum Seekers of Sudanese heritage are not sent back to Sudan
to support and facilitate educational initiatives for students who have had to put their education on hold similar to the good practice examples provided to Ukraine students, for example online courses.
to ensure that immediate support is provided and humanity and dignity of Sudanese people are upheld
for consideration to be given to medical doctors of Sudanese heritage living in diaspora and who are willing to go back to Sudan to have the support of their government in terms of safety and remuneration by different governments
to make preparations for the arrival of Sudanese people who have been displayed and provide facilities that would enable them integrate into communities.
to assist in alleviating the suffering of Sudanese people in Sudan, it’s borders and the health and mental wellbeing of those resident in Northern Ireland.
